Divorce Care

DIVORCECARE | Children's Program

Hope and Recovery for
Separated and Divorced Individuals and their Children

Fellowship Bible Church offers both an adult and children’s group for those affected by separatation and divorce.

  • The adult group sessions are for separated or divorced individuals who are seeking to save their marriage, heal from their divorce, and prevent ever going through the divorce experience again.
  • The children’s group is for children, ages 5-12, who’s parents are separated and divorced.  This group is also for children who’s parents have remarried and continue to have difficulty.

Adult Program:  You don’t have to go through it alone

You don’t have to go through it alone

Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they have ever faced.  It is a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about issues you have never had to face before.

Fellowship’s Divorce Care groups meets weekly for thirteen weeks to help you face the challenges of separation and divorce and move toward rebuilding your life. The sessions include a 30-40 minute DVD video as well as small group time. You will quickly feel comfortable and accepted as you discover that others in your group understand the hurt and pain you are going through because they are too.

Below is an overview of this Christ-based experience:

You’ll learn helpful, practical information that will help you recover from your separation and divorce.  The DVD videos feature top experts on divorce and recovery subjects and studies of people just like you, who have been through the experience.

You’ll have the chance to talk about your experiences.  It can be very healing to tell others what you are going through.  The support group sessions include a time to talk about what you have seen on the videos and what is going on in you life.  And while you have the opportunity to tell you story, there is never pressure for you to do so if you do not feel like it.

You’ll become part of a “family.”  The group members often share they feel like their group has become their family; they made new friends and are around people they can relate to.  Divorce Care is designed to be a safe environment, and dating relationships between group members are not encouraged (to allow you time to focus on you personal healing).

You’ll discover hope for the future.  While things may look bleak now, you will learn ways to restore your hope and rebuild your life.  Many alumni tell us that the program helped them move from adversity to becoming a better person.  One of our members shared these words:  “Divorce Care has turned my scars into stars.”

Your children will have the opportunity to heal.  Fellowship also sponsors DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K) groups.  DC4K is a fun environment for kids to learn how to work through the hurt of divorce.  The DC4K program features videos, music, games, crafts and activities for children ages 5-12.  (See below for more information.)

Children’s Program:  DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K) Brings Healing and Joy!

Children experiencing the separation or divorce of their parents tell us they feel alone and helpless.  They often feel scared, sad, and confused.  They may hide their feelings from their parents because they are worried about their parents’ happiness or because they do not know how to express their feelings appropriately.

DC4K is a special group to help children heal from the pain and confusion caused by a separation or divorce.  It provides children with a safe and neutral place to recognize and learn to share their feelings.

For thirteen weeks the children are involved in this Christ-centered, biblically based program.  The weekly session’s topic help the children learn that God’s love strengthens them and helps them turn their sadness to hope and their anger to joy.

Each session is filled with motivating and exciting activities. Games, crafts, role playing, discussion times, journaling, and workbooks help the process the divorce and move forward in their lives.  The music CDs, snacks, read aloud stories, exercises, and Bible verses teach the children to relax and rest secure in God’s love.  The Kids Like Me and Stories from the Bible video dramas present stories of children who are experiencing divorce-related problems and have found help and encouragement.

Parents shared: “Enrolling my kids in this program is one of the best things I have ever done.” and “DC4K helped foster communication between my children and me.”

This is an opportunity to help our children heal from the mistakes we have made as parents.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”  2 Corinthians 1: 3-4

It is all about our relationship with Christ Jesus, who loves us so much He died to give each one of us eternal life.  That was His choice; now it is our turn.

God Bless your decision.
